Pictures of Eldar Content Are Out
The Eldar Codex is slowly being revealed to us as this week continues. This is sure to be a fantastic release, and of course my order is in.
Here is a series of pics, and of course a link to where you can find some pics right out of the codex.
Pics of the Codex content:

All I got to say is look out... 3+ saves for my firedragon is an excellent upgrade. The Crimson Hunter of couse is looking better and better, and will probably be a must have for my personal Eldar Army.

Power Armour fire dragons, now that's some good news.
ReplyDeleteYeah too bad 3+ armor is not that useful on T3 suicide squad and your paying +6 points each for that.
DeleteCannot wait for my order to turn up on Saturday. Slightly saddened that it seems that Exarches didn't pick up a 2nd wound on their stats, but on the whole I can't wait to see what's changed.
ReplyDelete...And how they've fixed Banshees assaulting from transports...
What fix is this you speak of? I've not seen anything on the banshees and they need a fix badly.
DeleteI'll humour you here :P
DeleteWhen was the last time that you tried to assault with Banshees? Bung them in a Wave Serpent, scoot them across the table to the target, down goes the ramp and the 'Shees stand about doing nothing for the opponent's turn because in 6th the Serpent has no assault ramp and units can't charge in the same turn as disembarking. Banshees don't have the armour or moving through cover of Scorpions, making them less efficient when disembarking into cover (as the sensible player would) while also completely reveals your intention and giving your opponent a whole turn to either move the intended target out of harm's way, move another unit to intervene, shoot up your nice assault unit or assault them first.
It's pretty not good. Given that the much tougher Wraith infantry now also can field two assault loadouts I can't see Banshees being used that much without some form of improved delivery mechanism.
Ahhhhhh, wait! I see, you're actually agreeing with me, that will teach me to rush through posts at work!
DeleteI dunno if they've fixed Banshees but given that Scorpions are good and now we have Wraithblades too I find it hard to imagine that the ladies have been left out so I assume that they've been fixed!
basically if Serpents dont have assault ramps or Banshees dont have special rules to assault out of vehicles Kelly can do all the fixes he wants to them, they are still 100% useless.
DeleteI cant believe I am saying this but I wish Kelly wasnt the author of this codex. I have a feeling that its just going to be a massive CTRL C + CTRL V of the last book and the last book was ultra dated. No other army in this game needed/needs fresh eyes to look at it and actually update it to the current game. Like I heard nothing is changing FOC slots. So War Walkers are still heavy support which is madness. Ah well, only a few days and we get to see the book for ourselves.
Just curious, if War Walkers aren't a HS choice then what should they be? IMO they're far too heavy to be a standard Troop choice, not exactly fast enough for FA (Wasps aside) and they're not really special enough to be 'l33ts.
DeleteNot poking you with a stick or anything, I'm just wondering what your reasoning is?
To be fair, fresh eyes wouldn't have necessarily changed the FOC. Look at Tau, how in the name of the greater good are pathfinders with heavy weapons FAST?! Yet thats where they still sit, even if they are improved.
DeleteDon't get me wrong, I'm having fun with the new tau, but fresh eyes doesn't mean problems will be fixed, it just means they will try to justify them in fluff (drones don't have fearless and can't look out Sir=tau don't view them as expendable...but fire warriors are. Nice)
Eldar, so far, look like a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the full codex
@ Mauler: They are the Eldar equivalent to IG Sentinels. They both have a huge amount of fire power, they both have scout, etc. but the WW is heavy support and the Sentinels are fast attack (being scouts).
Delete@ Archon: The difference is though that Pathfinders are a SCOUT unit, just like the War Walkers even though they have heavy weapons (marker lights).
One of the biggest issues right now with the current book is the insanely stacked Heavy Support section and its only getting worse with the new book with the addition of the Wraithknight. I think there will be something like 9 choices, so most wont get seen unless you are doing a very specific army. I personally would love to see War Walkers in fast (as they should being scout vehicles) and Falcons set up as dedicated transports for aspect warriors. Right there that frees up a lot of space.
Regardless I am super excited to see how it goes, my only concern is its just too much the same as the current book with minor updates (as the 4th ed book was the 3rd ed book with minor updates). Fingers crossed that its fun lol
I didnt think Banshees were broken per se, but they suffered from another unit that did their job better, Harlies. But we'll see soon.
Delete@ghoulio kind of not my point about the pathfinders. Scout is what they used to justify being in the fast slot. They COULD have changed that. Take away scout, give them infiltrate if need be, leave their armor the way it was, and move them to elite and move stealth suits to fast which are, in comparison, fast. Or find a way to move them to troops which is wide open. Point was, "new eyes" does not mean things will change.
DeleteI see! It's all relative though, Eldar are a fast army, all their FA units are currently faster than War Walkers. The Guard are a comparatively slow force and so in comparison their Sentinels are more mobile than most of their other units, hence they're FA.
DeleteThere's no new assault transport unfortunately. Banshees still gotta wait a turn, and yes war walkers are still heavies.
DeleteHow do you know?
DeleteI have my sources.
DeleteNatfka, is there any rumours about when/if the new jetbikes will get released. I have sworn to myself never to run jetbikes until they get new models.....
ReplyDeletePlease new jetbikes, that test model has been around for years! The Farsight one was too and that actually made it into the new Tau codex...
DeleteIve been waiting 5 and a half years, saving my money for new bikes, and ill continue to wait. No awful looking midget bikes for me thank you very much. When i saw that model it completly cemented my veiw, as it looks bloody amazing! Id spend upwards of £50 on them.
DeleteIt won't happen - it's just a fact you'll have to deal with. They repackaged them, it would be pointless doing that if they were planning on releasing bikes in a few months.
DeleteJust buy the Eldar bikes, and some Guardians and do a switch with the torso's and head, or convert them out of the DE Reaver Jetbikes.
I wond mind an update to the JEtbikes, just not a forward leaning DE type. Don't make as much sense for the Eldar to lean forward.
Delete@Callum: It will happen, for exactly that fact. They repackaged them for the new release, so they appear new. GW target market it young kids, who do not understand the way things work as such, and do not follow rumours. As such all the wide eyed newbies will buy the shiny new codex, see the jetbikes and spend lots of money on them over the summer holidays, which start in about 3/4 weeks. Then when it gets close to christmas, GW will release resculpts of various models, which will lokk a hundred times better, and all the newbies will buy them up, or get them for christmas, earning GW double the money for one unit.
DeleteThis is also when I would expect resculpts of aspects, if thats ever gonna happen.
I think you're creating some kind of GW conspiracy - over complicating something simple.
DeleteGW want to get out more Codexes quicker, that's why they're not updating plastic kits, and why there's not all that many new units in the new books, and a lot of dual kits.
I have to agree with Callum on this one. There is no presidence for GW to do this. Most of the time when GW do a repack of a model it will take some time before you get something new. Same if a metal model is moved to Fine Cast, chanses are they won't get a plastic model any time soon (although it's possible).
DeleteIm not trying to create a conspricy, im just saying it is good business sense and it would be a good time to do a model update as they dont normally release anything major around christmas.
DeleteWell there is the Hobbit stuff for christmas.
DeleteRemember though, they did just repackage wraithguard and they knew full we'll that the plastic kit would be out within 6 months
DeleteNew Apocalypse rumours when?
ReplyDeleteAlso, now that Specialist Games (along with all other metal models, goodbye Collector's series, still-metal characters and SisteFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU---) got killed, Mystery Box rumours and Sisters wishlisting when?
Can't really call anything regarding Sisters even rumours with a straight face anymore, considering they would need as metal replacement a total of 4-5 infantry boxes (Battle Sisters/Retributors/Celestians, Seraphim/Dominion, Repentia unless they just get Finecasted, Sisters Command Squad unless they also get Finecasted, Ministorum Priests/Frateris Militia unless Redemptionists are finecast too), several Finecast characters plus a generic plastic character (Canoness?), recut vehicles (Immolator/Repressor, Exorcist/Somethingelse), plastic/finecast Penintent Engine, and if going by 6th Ed releases, a giant walker and a flyer...
sisters aren't dead mate.
DeletePerhaps not, but if they get their own codex then I will buy and eat a copy.
DeleteYou could probably to one to three plastic infantry boxes for most of the Sisters units. Most of the stuff they have are just weapon replacements.
DeleteSo yeah their release is bigger than most others, which is why I think they will be the last codex to be updated. Unless ofcourse the talk of an Inquisition Codex is true.
Is that second warlock rocking the horns?
ReplyDeleteThat's a new Spiritseer HQ and yes, he is indeed throwing the horns while leading dead Eldar into a ruck. Metal: even Elves in space have it.
DeleteIf I can't move 12" and get out my Wave Serpent, I'm going to f*cking rage....
ReplyDeleteyour most likely going to be able to do the same as a ork battle wagon, move 6'' & assault or move 12'' & not assault.
Delete(correct me if I am wrong, I have not had many 6th edition games with transports)
Are you trlling me my eldar are the same as orks? The highest technologically savvy and swiftest race in the galaxy are gonna be the same as green vermin?!!!!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOy! Wut ya talkin bout ya pointy-eared pansy?! Wi'z greenskins ain't no rats! Rats be small and brown wi'z big and green! Old Skruffeye told me ya slinky gits waz cleva', gotta smash dat liars 'ead in next time I see 'im!
Delete"Highest technologically savvy"? Eldar? The Jokaero would like to have a word with you.
DeleteOOK-OOK! OOK-OOK! OOK-OOK-OOK!
I meant the highest in the sense that Jokaero are enslaved to the grey knights and inquisition. So they dont count.....
DeleteNot sure how technology figures into jumping out of a fast moving vehicle. But Orks should obviously be better than eldar at hitting the ground running.
DeleteEldar should easily be able to make a simple peice of tech to allow them to hit the ground without so much as a bump, whereas orks just fall out and hope for the best! ;-)
DeleteFall out and hope for the best is one of the orks core tactics. Got me to thinking about what would be some cool rules for the next codex. Similar to zag and the Vulcha boyz, disembark from a transport after it moves 12 inches and remove d3 orks as jump out casualties.
Deleteor disamberk at any time and remove d3 boyz for every 6" after the first with no saves. Could be amuzing, potentiall wiping your squad out after moving a stupid distance.
DeleteThe biggest upset of this release for me is that Dire Avengers are now $35 for a box of 5 with no new sprues. Just before this they were $37.25 for 10 like most basic infantry boxes. If anyone knows what amazing broken rules they got to justify such a price is please let me know.
ReplyDelete3+ armour I think
DeleteWas there a rumour for this? I knew about fire dragons, but if DA recieve a 3+ it could be game changing
DeleteEven if they now have 3+ armour that still does not make them so valuable that this massive price increase is necessary.
Deletethey are still 4+, the exarch is 3+ (heavy aspect armor)
DeleteTheir gun is now ghetto rending on 6's to wound, plus they can run and shoot (or shoot and run). The have counterattack base, and the exarch can buy powers to disarm opponents as well as get a 4++
DeleteIt looks like a good codex, but there are a lot of little changes from what we had before that is going to upset people. Ghost helms now negate perils automatically if you spend a warp charge, you cant get a lock in a squad of wraithguard or wraith blades so their buffs will need to come from your HQ farseer/runeseer. Wave serpents are far too expensive in a edition that sees 35 point rhinos and 55 point chimaera. Heavy support is still over crowded. Autarchs are still worthless compared to the psykers available. Guardians are still useless. The list goes on
It's a Phil Kelly codex, there must be the obligatory useless units.
DeleteThere are some amazing infos on dakka :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the army I've always wanted to build. Beautiful models and would look awesome on the battle field. Backed up by the new waithguard/blades. It just happens to be my birthday this weekend to :).

That list has Guardians at 9 points.... Don't know if I buy that.
DeleteIt didn't mention the platforms having a points cost. Would be super weird if it was all rolled into one wouldn't it?
DeleteEldar info to be found here!

Enjoy!
So by these rumours, guardian jetbikes arw bs4 and 17pts per model...if this is true, then space marines are out for my beautiful Tau. Its eldar all the way baby
ReplyDeleteWent and took everything /tg/ posted, finished translating all the names I could, reorganized it by FOC and posted it on Heresy Online. Anyone who wants to have an easier time picking through it can see it here:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1356928&postcount=3
This will spoil the entire surprise of the codex (well almost), but I thought id post anyway and let you decide. Some things have been left off the list by the author so as not to spoil them (the main one being Illic) Also it's translated from german so some stuff doesn't sound right. But basically it's a unit list of the new codex, without points, and a few rules.
ReplyDeletehttp://3plusplus.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2430&start=30
Scroll down about a quarter of a page to find it.
Natfka, feel free to remove this if it is against your rules and will get you in trouble again.
I have to ask this...but from what I have seen of the leaks...have we really become a bs4 army?
ReplyDeleteSeems like it. Kinda makes sense as even their basic troops are supposed to be above/ equal to the elites of other armies.
DeleteThey either had to make stuff a lot cheaper or a little better to reboot the codex. Cheaper wouldn't lend itself well to the whole dying race and dwindling population narrative. So GW seems to have gone the other direction and made the Eldar more elite rather than more of a horde army. Hooray for the Guardians.
DeleteNo cover saves may be taken against mind war... thank heavens for that!!
ReplyDeleteAye, but you can still take a look out sir and push your mind in front of his.....
DeleteAlso its a focused withfire not a "i choose you!" like before. so you only actually get the target you wanted if your psychic test is 5 or lower....which will be less than half the time.
DeleteEldar psychic powers from 3++
ReplyDeletehttp://2ch.hk/wh/src/1369865462282.jpg
they all look really good except number 4 (death mission) as I would not imagine a farseer would ever deliberatly cast a power that would end his own life after just one battle and at the exclusion of other powers being cast , so he becomes an utter tank but tbh why not just buy an avatar to do the same job?
DeleteHere you go Gent's, from a nice page on face book.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy:

What the hell... that's amazing. Also, War Walkers are quite possibly the best 210pts in 40k now.
DeleteAm I missing something super obvious? Why?
DeleteBecause you can turn them into absolute killing machines; take a squad of 3 with SL & BL each and they can realistically take down a tank or medium-sized. Since they have Battle Focus and Fleet, that means you can pop out from cover, blow the living crap out of something and then pop back in quite reliably, with the BL being TL. At BS4. That’s 210pts that stands a good chance of popping a LR in the first turn. On a unit that can also pick apart the termies that were inside said LR on the next turn.
DeleteIf you really want to turn them into something horrible, give them holofields and serpent shields. Stand behind some trees, pop out to shoot, pop back in. 3++ Cover save and all penetrating shots are only glances on a 2+. And gets D6+1 S7 pinning shots that ignore cover if you’re not worrying too much about penetrating hits.
Add in a Doom/Guide combo vs. a unit of paladins and watch their owner cry as they all drop to ID attrition.
Serpent shield is not a vehicle upgrade. It is a shield that is always on the wave serpent for no additional points.
Deletefinally found cheap eldar terrain that also looks good http://www.miniaturescenery.com/CategoryPage.asp?CODE=CAT_ELV
ReplyDeleteLooks good. Hope shipping to US isn't too bad...
ReplyDeleteAnyone here got the codex? Would love to get a QnA going.
ReplyDeleteThere are enough links in this thread with rule and or screenprints that a q&a would just be getting someone else's opinion instead of forming your own :p
DeleteI prefer to get answers off of someone who has the codex in hand, not use linksto rules and tiny, poor quality scans.
DeleteOn another note, heres a link to a reveiw of how mechdar might survive in the new codex. :-P

Three days without an update?
ReplyDeleteThat's not like Natfka. I hope all is well.
Thats what i was thinking. No comments , no posts. If this continues for another day or so i will begin to get worried.
Delete*Two days later - a single post with a stylised letter I appears; RUN the inquisition is real and onto us :O
In fact, Sunday will be the day to watch. If we dont get a weekly editorial, then something is clearly wrong. The only time hes missed an editorial was when he was badly ill and when its been icredibly rumour busy.
DeleteGet it whilst it is still up, got all/most unit pages with rules:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.scribd.com/doc/144896348/Eldar-Codex-6th-rough-photodex?secret_password=1790775wzv5sgw8poytf
Just an FYI, but the FAQ for the Codex is up already. It's very short, one entry, but it's there.
ReplyDeleteI'm still sad that the court of the young king didn't make it into the book :(
ReplyDeleteSo I got my copy of the Codex this morning. (New Zealand actually ftw for once). Happy to do a Q & A. Anyone know how I can get a hold of Natfka to see if its allowed? / Does anyone actually want one considering how many pages are already up for viewing as photo's?
